ABOUT ABOUT

Experience the collision of two of histories most celebrated dramatists in a site-specific double bill of Georg Büchner's WOYZECK and Bertolt Brecht's LIFE OF GALILEO. Presented in Collaboration with the Fogg Art Museum's "INVENTUR" exhibition, WOYZECK/GALILEO explores the physical, artistic, and moral sotcktaking of German artists in the wake of World War II and the Holocaust. It will be the first theatrical event to take place against the backdrop of Renzo Piano's staggering Calderwood Courtyard.

Galileo devotes himself to a tireless search for scientific truth in a world that condemns it, while Woyzeck, seeking to support his wife, Marie, and their young child, in an act of desperation submits himself to be the human subject of a monstrous science experiment. Although centuries apart and in opposite social circumstances, they share an indelible devotion to their respective causes which will ultimately lead them to sacrifice that which makes them most human.
